Congratulations to Brown County's Suzanne Wynn
On October 17, 2005, Suzanne L. Wynn, Esq., LLM Tax, was admitted to practice
before the U.S. Supreme Court. Of the 128 admittees that day, Mrs. Wynn was the
only attorney admitted from Ohio. The ceremony, which was held in open court,
was the first admission ceremony presided over by Chief Justice Roberts.
To qualify for admission to the Supreme Court bar, an attorney must present a
personal statement, proof that he has been admitted to practice before the
highest court in his state for at least three years and a certificate of good
standing from that court. In addition, each attorney must be sponsored by two
existing members of the Supreme Court bar who can vouch for their moral and
professional character. Because of these high standards, less than one percent
of the nation's attorneys are admitted to practice before the Supreme Court. Her
admission to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court was witnessed by her husband
and two children. Their trip included a whirlwind 4-day program in Washington,
D.C. that included a reception at the U.S. Supreme Court, a visit to the Marine
Corps War Memorial at dusk (also known as the Iwo Jima Monument), and a private
tour of the Holocaust Museum. The second greatest highlight of the trip, after
the admissions ceremony itself, was a visit to the floor of the U.S. House of
Representatives and a tour of the White House arranged by Congresswoman Schmidt.
Mrs. Wynn was a candidate in March of 2004 for a seat on the 12th Appellate
District Court of Appeals, receiving 43% of the vote.
