I’m John Becker and I approved this message.

Please provide me names and e-mail addresses for anyone else that would like to receive this.
You may also forward this newsletter to your Republican friends.

Chairman Bennett told me that he looks forward to getting The Becker Report.
Flattered, I asked him how he gets it because he is not on my distribution list.
(Only those who have told me that they want the newsletter are on my distribution list.)
He told me that it floats around Columbus.

Update
I’ve been going door-to-door, in my precinct, with my seven-year-old daughter hunting for Bush/Cheney supporters who need to register.
A gentleman told us that he and his wife just moved into the neighborhood from Florida.
He said that he is a Bush supporter and filled out the registration form.
We started to give him another one for his wife.
He then proceeded to explain to us that his wife was the James Carville of the family. (I hope she doesn’t look like him.)
We kept the form, thanked him for his support, and moved on.

Further down the street, another man told us that he was registered and supports the President.
When we inquired about his wife, he explained that she was not registered and wasn’t too sure who she might vote for.
We tentatively gave him a registration form and told him that we would trust his judgment regarding his wife’s intentions.
He then promised to flatten the tires on her car, if he has to, to prevent her from voting for John Kerry.

I’m not sure what my daughter is learning from these experiences.

October 3, 2004
The morning and early afternoon were busy at church registering new voters.
I shall submit an additional 26 registration forms and 3 absentee ballot requests to the Board of Elections tomorrow.

October 2, 2004
My daughter and I walked door-to-door through the Babson Park and Stone Oak subdivisions in Union Twp.
Out of all of the people that we talked to, only two were Kerry supporters.
Everyone else was supporting President Bush and was registered.
After returning to Republican HQ in Batavia, my daughter and I helped with a mailing.
She particularly liked sticking on the mailing labels.
It was great to see Bill Herdman, who stopped by, and was hunting for Bush/Cheney signs.

September 30, 2004
You should have seen Colonel Danny Bubp in his full dress Marine uniform.
The white gloves, spit shined shoes, and chest full of metals were very impressive.
We were at a “Party for The President” in Batavia.

Presidential Debate
Prior to the debate, I thought that The President needed to hold his own and not say something stupid.
Fortunately, he succeeded.
He certainly could have done better.
And I was concerned about him leaning on the podium.
Senator Kerry certainly did well and is “back in the race.”
I’m confident that President Bush will do better on October 8th.

September 28, 2004
The League of Women’s voters held a candidates night.
Both Tom Niehaus and Mary Walker demonstrated a command of the issues and greatly overshadowed their opponents.

September 27, 2004
As expected, the Brown County parade was well worth the trip.
And I got to say hi and wave to many of the Brown County notables.
I was not only impressed by the huge Republican showing, but also by the large number of churches that were represented in the parade.
The more I visit Brown County, the more I like it.

My seven-year-old daughter is getting smarter about these parades.
She not only insisted that we sit and watch (rather than participate), but she took a bag to collect candy.
After that bag overflowed, she started filling up smaller bags that were handed out during the parade.
Everybody loves a parade.

Former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore was the keynote speaker at the annual Family First PAC dinner.
It was a pleasure to enjoy dinner with Dan Unger, his lovely wife, and my new friend, Doug Cade, from Portsmouth.
Doug is a candidate for Scioto County Engineer, a strong conservative, and a good Christian man.
Rodney Barnett also speaks very highly of him.
I had the pleasure to introduce Doug to several people including Tom Brinkman, Phil & Vickie Burress, Jack Gruber, Tanya Lee, David Miller, Roseann Siderits, and Lori Viars.

Attempting to summarize Judge Moore’s incredible presentation in a few sentences would be most difficult, if not futile.
However, I would be remiss if I didn’t attempt to briefly describe the major issue:
The First Amendment to the Constitution reads in part: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…”
This Amendment specifically prohibits the US Congress from creating a national church or involving itself in religion.
Therefore, the Federal government simply has no jurisdiction over issues of religion at the state and local levels.
Judge Moore explained that he stood up for the rule of law by disregarding an illegal order from a Federal judge.
The order was illegal because the First Amendment precludes Federal jurisdiction over issues of religion at the state level.

This was only the second State Central Committee meeting that has been held since I took office.

Following the State Central Committee meeting in Columbus, I attended Barb Wiedenbein’s fundraiser in Batavia.
The food and the company were so good that I stayed much longer than I had planned.

I stopped by Connie Bare’s house to personally explain to her, how and why, Les Spaeth was selected as the Elector for the 2nd Congressional District.

My final stop was at Rob Portman’s open house on Wooster Pike.
Jane Portman and Eric Toy were two people that I had the pleasure to meet for the first time.

Ohio Christian Coalition Voter Guides
Educational non-partisan voter guides are available to churches and other organizations who are willing to distribute them.
Contact Chris Hartkop at 330-887-1922 or visit: http://www.ccohio.org/

Web Sites
Scioto County has a new and very attractive web site established at http://www.sciotogop.org/.
Clermont County’s web site still needs some tweaking but is now about 95% complete.
Brown is my other county that also has a web site.

Candidate Funding and/or Endorsements
Two organizations are available to fund and/or endorse countywide and local candidates:
Family First PAC (937-885-0657) is well established and has been very successful at raising and distributing money.
CCV Action (513-733-5775) is very new and not yet well funded.
They will likely be a major player in the future.
Please let me know if any other organizations are willing to fund countywide and local candidates.

Predictions (never in doubt and rarely correct)
For most of this year, I’ve been predicting that President Bush will win 49 states.
He will not win The Peoples Republic of Massachusetts or Washington DC.
Many of you may be thinking that I’ve been smoking an illegal substance.
I’ll admit that I might be over zealous with my optimism.
But I would bet money on 39 states.
Consider the following points:

Additionally, the President is popular with mainstream America due to the following:

In contrast, John Kerry is popular with Liberals and Socialists due to the following:

o       Those judges believe that the Courts have the authority to rule with dictatorial power rather than following the rule of law as established by the legislatures

George W. Bush will be the first president since Bush-41 to win a majority of the popular vote.
He will get between 52% and 55% of the popular vote.
The President will win Ohio with 54% to 58% of the vote.
Although it will not look like the sweep of 1994, Republicans will pick up seats in the US House and Senate and at all levels of state and local government.

Remember that you heard it here first.

It is important to note that we cannot allow optimism and confidence to lead to complacency.
Or complacency shall surely lead to defeat.

Do not forget that George W. Bush led in Ohio by eleven points just three days before the 2000 election.
He won Ohio by only three percentage points.
