News from Columbus
The Columbus Dispatch reported the following:
Downstate, John Becker, a member of the Clermont County and state Republican central committees, said that unless a viable alternative emerges -- he mentioned former Sen. Fred Thompson of Tennessee -- evangelical Christians might sit out the 2008 presidential election.

"I personally will vote for the most conservative candidate, and I will support Giuliani if it's between him and -- pick any Democrat," Becker said. "But there are large numbers of people who are friends of mine who will just not be motivated to vote. They'll stay home and hurt the Republican cause."

State Rep. Kevin DeWine of Fairborn, deputy chairman of the Ohio Republican Party, called evangelical Christians a loyal and "potent voting bloc" for the GOP and said he hoped they would not reject Giuliani or the others on the basis of one or two issues.

"At the end of the day, a Rudy Giuliani or a John McCain is better-suited to lead this country than Hillary Clinton," DeWine said.

Past Events
June 6, 2007
About 30 people attended the Anderson Twp Republican Club (Hamilton County) meeting.
The special guest speaker was Mark Piepmeier, Co-Chief Assistant Hamilton County Prosecutor.
Mr. Piepmeier gave a fascinating description of the Amy Baker and Liz and David Carroll case involving Marcus Feisel.
State Representative, Tom Brinkman, gave an update regarding the state budget.
He also discussed eminent domain, the cable TV bill, and a sexual predator living near Kellogg Park.
Trustee, Al Peter, also discussed the new bike trail and upcoming township events.
Hamilton County Chief Deputy Sheriff, Sean Donovan, discussed the need for a new jail.
Things got exciting when Commissioner, Pat DeWine, discussed his opposition to a new sales tax for the jail.
The voice of reason prevailed when Club President and Trustee, Russ Jackson, stated that the true argument had to do with who decides.
I personally agree with Pat DeWine that Hamilton County needs a new jail and that the VOTERS should make the final decision.
