Emergency Prayers Needed!!!
Bill Jenny is a long-time member of the Clermont County Central Committee from
Union Twp.
He is dying of pancreatic cancer.
Without a miracle from God, Bill will be dead within the next few days.
Please pray for that miracle and for his family.
Past Events
April 26, 2007
Nearly 20 people attended the Brown County GOP Club meeting at the Georgetown library.
The August 18th picnic was the primary topic of discussion.
April 25, 2007
Six issues were covered during Ohio Family Lobby Day in Columbus:
1) Representative
Tom Brinkman drafted a "Personhood Bill."
The idea is to define all human beings as people.
And all human beings are created at the moment of fertilization.
2) Once these newly defined "people" are born, we want them to be
easier to be adopted.
SB 20 would increase the Adoption Tax Credit from $500 to $1500.
3) When these kids start school, we want education vouchers to be available to
them.
(We are "pro-choice" on education.)
4) We also want them to have abstinence education.
5) If abstinence education fails, we need the Community Defense Act (SB 16) to
pass in the House.
(Did Senator Bob Schuler really vote no on SB 16?)
6) We also need to stop the taxation of churches.
The Ohio Revised Code changed the word "tax" to
"assessment."
HB 123 would address the taxation and assessment of churches.
And HB 47 would include all non-profit organizations.
The most interesting meeting was with Representative
Kenny Yuko.
He argued against the Community Defense Act (SB 16).
Mr. Yuko described his Cleveland district as having a high crime rate,
decreasing property values, and urban blight.
Amazingly, he then told us that his strip clubs haven't caused any problems.
Mr. Yuko also described his constituents as being mostly uneducated poor single
mothers.
He informed us that the strip clubs benefit his community by providing jobs.
Mr. Yuko is a Democrat and has provided a great reason why people should vote
Republican.
April 23, 2007
About 70 people attended the Pike County Lincoln Day Dinner.
Peter Schmidt and I were the only two from Clermont County.
I had the pleasure of sitting with my colleague Ralph Skillings and his wife,
Karen.
April 20, 2007
Kevin DeWine was elected to the position of Deputy Chairman at the State Central Committee meeting.
Mr. DeWine is an outstanding choice to succeed Chairman Bennett in January 2009.
He and his opponents conducted a very competitive, yet clean and gentlemanly
campaign.
All three are to be commended for that.
Also at the meeting, our non-incumbent legislative endorsement policy passed.
After forcefully arguing in favor of an amendment, I voted "No" on the
policy.
Chairman Bennett asked me to submit a written proposed amendment to the
committee for consideration at the next meeting.
April 18, 2007
73 voting members attended the Clermont County Central Committee meeting.
Congratulations to Tony Brock. He won an endorsement vote, 72 -1, for Municipal Court
Judge.
There was also discussion about the proposed ORP legislative endorsement policy.
April 12, 2007
About 200 people attended the Lawrence County Lincoln Day Dinner to hear
Tom Niehaus.
Tom is a gifted speaker and remains one of my favorites.
It was my pleasure to share a table with four friends from Scioto County: Rodney
Barnett, Maxine Arnette, Dan Hall, and Terry Johnson.
I also sat next to, and enjoyed getting to know, Richard Stobbs, from Belmont
County.
