Disclaimer
This
newsletter is not sanctioned by the GOP, ORP, or any organization, or
affiliation. I am fully and solely responsible for its content. Although I
strive for accuracy, this is not "The Gospel according to John."
Additionally, I don't necessarily try to be "fair and balanced."
After all, I didn't get into politics to be a news reporter. My agenda is to
influence public policy consistent with Southern Ohio conservative values. For
more information on my motivations or how to get involved, see: What
is a Central Committee?
Congratulations
Jean
Schmidt earned an “A”
rating from Keep America Safe.
She also won the ALIPAC
endorsement. Americans for Legal Immigration PAC is a non-partisan organization
that endorses candidates for Congress and Senate which opposes any form of
Amnesty, path to citizenship, or taxpayer benefits for illegal aliens.
Fire
from the Heartland is
the first-ever film to tell the entire story of the conservative woman in her
own words. “Activists, politicians and commentators such as Ann Coulter,
Michelle Malkin, S.E. Cupp, Dana Loesch, Michelle Easton, Sonnie Johnson, Jenny
Beth Martin, Michelle Moore, Jamie Radtke, Deneen Borelli, Janine Turner, and
Congresswomen Cynthia Lummis, Jean Schmidt, and Michele Bachmann share their
emotional stories of hardship and triumph in their fight for freedom. These
women leaders are fanning the flames of liberty across the nation.”
Archie Wilson,
Tom
Brinkman, and Ric
Ferenc recently won
the Ohio Valley FOP endorsement.
Kudos to Mike DeWine. He was the only candidate to fill
out the Union Twp Tea Party survey.

What is the Apportionment Board?
The Board consists of the Governor, Secretary of State, State
Auditor, and a Republican and Democrat selected from the Legislature.
Control is important because the Board redraws the State House and State Senate
districts based on the 2010 national census. The Party redrawing the district
lines will have a huge advantage in determining control of the legislature in
2012 and beyond. The 2010 legislature will redraw the US House districts.

Past
Events
September 16, 2010
Chief Justice candidate Maureen O'Connor and Justice Judith
Lanzinger were the
featured speakers at the Candidate Mixer in Montgomery. About 50 people enjoyed
the food and good company. It was great to see my SCC colleagues Mary Anne
Christie and Christa Criddle.
September 15, 2010
About 100 people attended the Clermont County Central Committee meeting in
Batavia. GOP HQ was recently remodeled by Senator Tom Niehaus,
Linda
Fraley, and Connie
Bare. Carl Dorsch
discussed grass roots precinct level GOTV efforts. Chairman Rudd talked about
absentee voting, sample ballots, and the importance of this election at all
levels.
September 13, 2010
The Loveland Republican Club elected new officers: President – Brent Zuch; VP –
Ted Phelps; Treasurer – Paulette Leppert; and Secretary – Courtney Viox.
September 10, 2010
About 200 SCC members, county chairmen, and campaign operatives from across
Ohio converged in Columbus to get an update on polling trends for major
candidates. Breakout sessions for the Portman and Kasich campaigns and
operatives followed. In addition to all of my SCC colleagues, it was great to
see Tom Niehaus and Tim Rudd from Clermont County, Bill Herdman and Mariah
Votel from Brown County, Harty Wallingford and Stephen Caraway from Adams
County, and Ray (Moose) Dutey from Lawrence County.
September 8, 2010
About 35 people attended the Union Twp (Clermont County) Central Committee
meeting to hear Senator Tom Niehaus
and Representative Joe Uecker. They both answered tough questions, explained
the state budget problem, and caucus discussions. Ted Stevenot gave an
executive committee update. Carl Dorsch discussed grass roots precinct level
GOTV efforts. And the merits of TIFs and JEDDs were briefly discussed.
September 7, 2010
The Union Twp Tea Party opened their monthly meeting with beautiful singing by
11-year-old Claire Brandt at the Eastgate Holiday Inn. Joe
Uecker was the
featured speaker. Ted Stevenot discussed “The Road to Serfdom” and passed out
an itemized list of pending federal tax increases.
September 3, 2010
About 65 people attended the First Friday Luncheon sponsored by Government
Strategies Group. Many high profile candidates were there, such as Steve
Chabot and Joe
Uecker.
August 31, 2010
Kevin DeWine hosted a conference call for the
members of the State Central Committee. He had a great deal of encouraging news
to report. Our Victory Centers have been wildly successful and Voter Vault
finally has a fresh update. Mr. DeWine expressed concern about the Democrats
being very well funded and the anticipated barrage of advertising. On a sad
note, he also announced that my SCC colleague, Coleen Wing has resigned for
personal reasons. She is a great lady and will be missed on the committee.
August 27, 2010
Jim Sauls hosted a successful fundraiser for Archie Wilson. Nearly 200 people
enjoyed plenty of food, beverages, desserts, and music.
