Disclaimer
Nobody asked me to include this, but it seems like a good idea:
This newsletter is not sanctioned by the GOP, ORP, or any organization, or affiliation. I am fully and solely responsible for its' content. Although I strive for accuracy, this is not "The Gospel according to John." Additionally, I don't necessarily try to be "fair and balanced." After all, I didn't get into politics to be a news reporter. My agenda is to influence public policy consistent with Southern Ohio conservative values. For more information on my motivations or how to get involved, see: What is a Central Committee?

Prayers Needed
Tina Meranda sent me an e-mail telling me that she is doing great and appreciates all prayers.
Please keep Danny Bubp in your prayers while he serves our country in Iraq.
Pray that our nation does not have to suffer an "Obamination."

Democrat Oil Embargo
This video proves that $10 per gallon for gasoline does not inflict enough pain on the American people to justify increasing domestic oil production.

Obama Watch

B. Hussein Obama on national defense:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl32Y7wDVDs

The National Journal rated him as the most liberal US Senator. This is an amazing feat considering the fact that US Senator Bernie Sanders (Vermont) is an avowed socialist. (As a matter of fact, although technically an independent, Sanders is the only Democrat that has the courage to admit that he is a socialist.) The bottom line is that B. Hussein Obama is to the left of an avowed socialist. What does that tell you?

This is my favorite video. It is almost five minutes and well worth watching all the way through:

What does Ted Strictland think of B. Hussein Obama?

Reader Feedback
John, Once again I want to thank you for including me on your distribution list of the "Becker Report."
It is the most extraordinary use of the Internet and old fashion common sense political basics---keep the base informed on a regular basis about the issues, candidates, and opportunities available to them to get involved to make a difference.
You do it well, and I just want to say "thank you" again.
Great work!

Good report, John. I like your "Beckerisms."
Past Events
August 2, 2008
The Republican State Central Committee met to enthusiastically and unanimously endorse Mike Crites to be Ohio's next Attorney General. I met Mr. Crites and his lovely wife, Maureen "Mo." They impressed me as great people. Chairman Bennett described Mr. Crites as not only an "A" list candidate, but "A+." I agree. Mr. Crites is a top shelf candidate. The general public and conservatives in particular will quickly warm up to Mike Crites as they get to know him and his very impressive credentials.
Also at the meeting, Chairman Bennett talked about our delegation to the convention. Deputy Chairman, Kevin DeWine, talked about the victory program and that Ohio leads the nation in the number of voter contacts.

July 24, 2008
About 30 people attended the Brown County Republican Club and Central Committee meeting at their HQ in Georgetown.
A number of events were discussed including the picnic, auction, golf outing, reception for Tom Niehaus, and the county fair.
Chairman Hall announced that County Recorder, Gary Himes, has resigned.
He also announced the very sad news that long time Party member and former treasurer, Audrey Worthington, died.

July 22, 2008
ORP Chairman, Bob Bennett, hosted a conference call to announce that Mike Crites was selected by the screening committee to be our Republican candidate for Attorney General. Deputy Chairman, Kevin DeWine talked up Mr. Crites' credentials. And Executive Director, Jason Mauk, assured conservatives that they will be happy with Mr. Crites' values and credentials.

July 8, 2008
Nearly 40 people attended the Scioto County Central Committee meeting in New Boston.
Most of the discussion centered on the rally for John McCain in Portsmouth. Kevin Servick provided a preview of the event and talked about a counter rally for Strictland. Chairman Johnson pointed out that it is important to concentrate on being pro-McCain rather than anti-Obama.
Other areas of discussion included: manning the fair booth, awarding two $600 scholarships, and George Crumm gave a campaign update.
Additionally, it was a pleasure to chat with my State Central Committee colleague, Kay Reynolds.
