Disclaimer
Nobody asked me to include this, but it seems like a good idea:
This newsletter is not sanctioned by the GOP, ORP, or any organization, or affiliation. I am fully and solely responsible for its' content. Although I strive for accuracy, this is not "The Gospel according to John." Additionally, I don't necessarily try to be "fair and balanced." After all, I didn't get into politics to be a news reporter. My agenda is to influence public policy consistent with Southern Ohio conservative values. For more information on my motivations or how to get involved, see: What is a Central Committee?

Prayers Needed
Please keep Danny Bubp in your prayers while he serves our country in Iraq.
Tina Meranda has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and is also in need of our prayers.
Pray that our nation does not have to suffer through a third term in office for the "Clintonistas."
Or suffer an "Obamination."

Past Events

About 30 people attended the Anderson Twp (Hamilton County) Republican Club reorganization meeting. The President is Russ Jackson, VP is Bruce Brandstetter, Secretary is Winnie Clayton, and the Treasurer is Jill Springman.
Rebecca Groppe was the keynote speaker. She talked about her Recorder's office and historical artifacts.

The Union Twp (Clermont County) Central Committee met to assign open precincts to interested Party activists. Open seats are still available if anyone is interested.

May 3, 2008
The Southern Ohio GOP County Chairs Association held their reorganization meeting at Frantina's Restaurant in Piketon. 15 people attended.
Congratulations to Ross County Chairman, Diane Carnes, for her unanimous election to the organization's chairmanship.
It was great to see Ray Dutey. He was the only chairman from my five counties.
Additionally, it is always a pleasure to see my state central committee colleagues; Marilyn Ashcraft, Kay Ayres, and Kay Reynolds.

April 26, 2008
The Republican State Central Committee held their reorganization meeting at the NorthPointe Conference Center, north of Columbus. New and re-elected members were sworn in by Justice Maureen O'Connor. The RNC platform was officially adopted and committee assignments were finalized. A number of issues were discussed including committee responsibilities, regional meetings, candidates, phone banks, the victory team, training school, county web sites, and more.

April 23, 2008
About 30 people attended the ORP Southwest Regional Dinner in Mason. ORP Chairman Bob Bennett, chaired the meeting. Senator Mike DeWine gave an update on the McCain campaign. Additional updates were given by ORP Deputy Chairman Kevin DeWine, Executive Director Jason Mauk, Deputy Director Jonathan Gormley, and Communications Director, John McClelland.
Two of my county chairmen attended. They were Tim Rudd from Clermont County and Paul Hall from Brown County.
During open discussion, I asked Senator DeWine to pass on a message to Senator McCain: "The people of Southern Ohio don't want to hear all this crap about windmills and alternative energy. They want domestic oil production to be increased for a number of reasons. In addition to national security, increased supply will reduce price. Reducing cost will lead to an expansion of the economy and create jobs." Senator DeWine said that he would pass on the message. Unfortunately, both Senators DeWine and McCain remain opposed to drilling in ANWR. I keep wondering how high gasoline prices have to go before they change their minds. As far as I can tell, no price is too high.
Bob Barr is the only candidate that supports drilling in ANWR.

April 16, 2008
The Clermont County Central Committee held their reorganization meeting at HQ in Batavia.
The Party Chairman is Tim Rudd and the Vice Chairman is Ed Humphrey. The Central Committee Chairman is Dave Bednar and the Vice Chairman is Thea Shoemake. The Treasurer is Greg Carson and the Secretary is Kathy Freudenburger.
