strive for accuracy, this is not "The Gospel according to John."
Additionally, I don't necessarily try to be "fair and balanced."
After all, I didn't get into politics to be a news reporter. My agenda is to
influence public policy consistent with Southern Ohio conservative values. For

New staff
at the Ohio GOP
Welcome to Chris
Maloney. He is our new Communications Director. Chris comes to the Ohio GOP
most recently from Randy Altschuler’s congressional campaign in New York, where
he served as Campaign Manager. He served on Mitt Romney 2008 presidential
campaign, and has also worked to elect Republican candidates in California and
New Mexico. Chris got his start in politics working at the National Republican
Congressional Committee. A native of Port Jefferson, New York, Christopher is a
graduate of George Washington University.
Who
is running for US Senate in 2012?
The list seems to
change from day-to-day, but the following are candidates who have declared, or
will likely declare, their candidacy: Ken Blackwell,
Captain
Rusty Bliss, Kevin
Coughlin, Eric
Gregory, and Josh
Mandel. The GOP
establishment seems to be favoring Josh Mandel. However, Ken Blackwell could
change that. It’s interesting to watch Rusty Bliss and Eric Gregory. They are
working hard to make a difference.

Past
Events
May 19, 2011
George
Pattison
emceed the annual
law enforcement awards dinner at the Eastgate Holiday Inn. About 200 people
attended. The crowd was filled with elected officials and government office
holders. A sampling of those who attended included Jean
Schmidt, Danny Bubp, Ed Humphrey, Tim Rodenberg,
Matt Beamer, Tim Donnellon, and Bob
McGee.
May 18, 2011
About 100 people attended the Clermont County Central Committee meeting in
Batavia. US Senate candidate Eric Gregory addressed the crowd and was warmly
received. Other topics discussed included, the summer picnic, county fair,
endorsement meeting, and the potential of moving the March primary election to
May. George Pattison
and Joe
Uecker also addressed
the crowd. Joe answered several questions regarding the budget, SB5, and
redistricting.
May 14, 2011
George
Pattison kicked off
his campaign for Municipal Judge at the Miami Twp Civic Center. Events and
marketing options were discussed.
May 7, 2011
The Pro-family forum met in Columbus to discuss issues important to
conservatives. Andrew Ciafardini stumped for Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
May 6, 2011
Senate President Tom Niehaus was
the featured speaker at the First Friday Luncheon sponsored by Government
Strategies Group.
He mostly spoke about the budget process and then opened it up to Q&A. I
inquired about redistricting. He responded that the full data would not arrive
in the legislature until June 30th. He was uncertain regarding the
possibility of having to move the 2012 primary election date.
It was a pleasure to share a table with Joe
Uecker and Ed Humphrey.
May 5, 2011
Matt Beamer hosted a successful reception for his re-election campaign. His
fellow trustees, Bob McGee and Tim Donnellon, were
mingling throughout the crowd.
Afterward, I attended the Union Twp National Pay of Prayer ceremonies.
May 4, 2011
I was part of an ad hoc committee of the State Central Committee that was
created to discuss and propose changes and/or additions to our endorsement
policy. This may be oversimplifying the outcome, but generally speaking, all
incumbents for “state offices” (including members of the SCC, but excluding
state school board) are considered endorsed unless revoked by a two-thirds
majority vote of the full SCC. Also, we will be applying our legislative
endorsement policy to congressional races. I voted NO.
May 3, 2011
Nearly 150 people attended the Union Twp Tea Party meeting at the Eastgate
Holiday Inn. Jane Brandt announced that we had accumulated over 2000 signatures
that day to repeal ObamaCare.
May 2, 2011
Governor Kasich hosted a conference call for State Central Committee members,
County Chairmen, and the members of Team Kasich. Mike Hartley emceed the call.
Director of Budget and Management: Tim Keen presented an overview of the budget
and pointed out that it was focused on economic development. Kasich: Eliminates
the 8 billion deficit and maintains the January tax cut. Encouraged calls to
our State Representatives
April 28, 2011
I attended the movie, “Waiting on Superman” at the Eastgate Holiday Inn. It was
packed full of information regarding the problems with our public schools. The event
was sponsored by the Union Twp Tea Party.
April 25, 2011
More than 400 people
attended CCV’s Annual Spring Banquet featuring David Barton
at Xavier’s Cintas Center.
Mr. Barton was once again a delight. His knowledge of history and the origins
of our nation is unparalled. It was great to see friends from Clermont County
including Jim Bushman, Linda Fraley, and Joe Uecker. Danny Bump was in full
dress military uniform and led the pledge of allegiance. Also in attendance was
Dave Yost and Ohio Supreme Court candidate Sharon Kennedy.
